Fatal Snowmobile Wreck in Michigamme
Speed may have been a factor in a fatal snowmobile accident in Michigamme.
Around 11 last night, 48-year-old Gilbert Herrin of Waunakee, Wisconsin was riding on Trail 8 near County Road IDA when he hit a tree.
A friend was riding with him at the time and contacted police.
Efforts to revive Herrin at the scene were unsuccessful.
Assisting at the scene included Michigamme–Spurr Township first responders, Bell Hospital EMS and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue Unit.
The accident is still under investigation.
