National Ranking Up to No. 8 for Women\’s Basketball

LILBURN, Ga. — Michigan Tech\’s women\’s basketball team moved up another spot to No. 8 in this week\’s USA TODAY/ESPN Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll selected by the Women\’s Basketball Coaches Association. The Huskies will spend their third straight week in the top 10 this week.

Tech got past Lake Superior State by a 69-66 score last Thursday (Jan. 13) before defeating Saginaw Valley State 67-47 last Saturday (Jan. 15). The Huskies have won 10 straight games, dating back to their only loss of the season—Nov. 27 at Concordia-St. Paul.

The top 25 poll features two teams from the GLIAC in Tech and No. 19 Grand Valley State. Joining those two teams from the Midwest Region is No. 21 Quincy from the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Michigan Tech, which has been nationally ranked in every poll since Jan. 22, 2008, will play two tough road games this week. The Huskies will be at Ferris State Thursday (Jan. 20) and No. 19 GVSU Saturday (Jan. 22).
