Ishpeming Backs Out of LSCP

Changes may soon be underway for the Lake Superior Community Partnership.

The Ishpeming City Council has voted unanimously to stop the city’s membership in the LSCP for 2011.

Instead of funding both the Partnership and the new Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce, the city council decided to support just the Chamber.

LSCP CEO Amy Clickner says it’s disappointing, since the LSCP and the Chamber do not do the same things.

The Chamber of Commerce has attracted 117 members in its 7 months of operation.

The LSCP isn’t giving up just yet.

The Partnership is planning a presentation next month for the City Council on what the Partnership has done in the past and what its plans are for the future.

The LSCP hopes to continue a dialogue between the two groups.
