Marquette Township Fire Grant

Thanks to a special FEMA grant for rural firefighters, the Marquette Township Fire Department will soon have more help at a fire scene.

They’ve received a $17,000 grant.

The money will be used to buy two thermal imaging cameras.

The new models have color-coded displays, and that helps firefighters quickly recover victims and locate hot spots.

Township Fire Marshal Ron DeMarse says the department currently has only one thermal imaging camera, and that one’s display is in black and white.

The camera is also 10 years old, and if it were to break, the township would not have a backup for emergencies.
