1 Dead, 1 Hurt in Car-vs.-Pedestrian Accident
Police in Houghton are continuing to investigate a fatal accident from yesterday.
Citing official policy, the Houghton Police would not release the name of the victim, but they also would not deny newspaper reports that mention the man’s name.
They do say the accident happened about 1pm yesterday on Bridge Street.
Police say a 20-year-old Marquette woman was driving south when her vehicle struck two men who were surveying in the area.
Both men were taken to Portage Health in Hancock.
The older man, a 61-year-old, died a short time later from his injuries.
The 23-year-old man was treated for injuries and later released.
