Marquette/Alger Health Center

Nearly a year ago, area residents were looking forward to a new, low–cost health clinic that would accept anyone, insurance or not.

But it never opened — so what’s happened to it?

The U.P. Association of Rural Health Services said last December it would open a new clinic in Marquette.

The group said the Marquette/Alger Health Center would most likely open in January.

But it never happened.

ABC 10 contacted the association today.

They say they have no new information on the center at this time.

And they also declined to give us the reason for the delay.

The center would be where the Hotchandani Aesthetic Center was once located on Washington Street in Marquette.

Dr. Gope Hotchandani no longer practices medicine in Michigan after pleading guilty two years ago to federal health care fraud.

However, he still practices in Wisconsin and has two clinics there.
