Winter Weather Awareness Week

The cooler weather has started to roll in, and more is on the way.

The National Weather Service wants you to be ready for that first foot of snow.

Governor Jennifer Granholm has proclaimed this week as Michigan Winter Weather Awareness week.

Despite the mild autumn and the lack of snow, the seasonal transition to winter is underway.

And when snowy conditions become the norm, the Weather Service wants to make sure everyone is ready.

Last winter was a record-breaker for warm conditions.

But the Weather Service doesn’t think those trends will continue into this winter.

NWS meteorologist Matt Zika says our warm conditions will soon give way to cooler temps next week as a cold front heads our way.
