Trial Date Set for Lac Vieux Desert Shooting Suspect

The man accused of trying to shoot police on Lac Vieux Desert tribal land two weeks ago has his trial date set.

47-year-old Richard McGeshick is charged with assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon.

The incident happened in the overnight hours on October 20th.

McGeshick is accused of going to the Lac Vieux Desert tribal center to take over the building by force.

The charge comes from a shotgun blast that he’s accused of firing at two tribal police officers when they approached the center.

McGeshick is being held in the Marquette County Jail.

If his case goes to trial, it has been set for February 8th.

Several court proceedings would take place before that.

McGeshick has a bond hearing scheduled for next Tuesday.

His initial pretrial conference is slated for December 2nd.

There’s a final pretrial conference on tap for January 27th.
