Near-Total Sweep for GOP

Of course, one person’s trash is another’s treasure.

Area Republicans are thrilled at the turn of events.

Things were rather quiet at Marquette GOP headquarters, dubbed the ‘Fix Michigan Center’.

But the mood was much more festive.

The chair says while the party’s message has not changed recently, residents are more receptive now than a few years ago.

Dan Adamini says after years of Democratic representation, people are telling him they’re taking note of Republicans’ positions.

The only U.P. Republican candidate for state or federal office who came up short was John Brock, who could not unseat Lindberg.

And it may not be too early to start thinking about 2012.

He says shortly after the holidays, he’ll be contacting other people in the area that he believes may want to be more involved in Republican politics.

Adamini will be asking them if they’d consider running.

He says strong support from NMU student volunteers, and the help the state party sent to coordinate them, made the difference for the Republicans.
