Bicycling Across the Netherlands
The old expression “stop and smell the roses” may be the motto one U.P. couple lives by.
But in their case, it’s tulips that they’d smell.
They decided to travel through the Netherlands on bicycles, and they’re sharing the experience.
Carol and Frederick Margrif made their second trip to the Netherlands last summer.
But this one was with a twise.
After flying into Amsterdam, they joined a group of 20 other people traveling south by bicycle.
The group traveled up to 30 miles a day.
Frederick Margrif says the excursion also allowed them to learn plenty about Dutch culture and natural life, since they could only travel as fast as they could pedal.
NMU’s Northern Center for Lifelong Learning hosted the couple’s presentation.
