Iron Mtn. Boil-Water Advisory Lifted

Iron Mountain’s boil-water advisory is now cancelled.

Residents had to boil their water before using it from Saturday until about 6 Central time tonight.

Public Works staff found that a lock to an access hatch at one of the city’s water storage tanks on East B Street had been intentionally cut off.

The first tests came back negative for bacteria yesterday.

But there usually have to be 2 straight negative tests to lift a boil-water advisory.

The results of a second test came back negative earlier tonight.

State Police from the Iron Mountain Post investigated the scene.

They say they didn’t find any evidence that the tank was contaminated.

Iron Mountain City Police are continuing the investigation.
