Police in the Keweenaw are looking into the death of a downstate man whose body turned up in Hancock last night.

It’s a 44-year-old man, but his name and hometown aren’t available yet.

Hancock Police say a city resident found the body at about 8 last night in the Quincy Hill section of town, in a wooded area off of Ryan Street and Roosevelt Road.

The man hadn’t been seen since November, when he was released from the Houghton County Jail.

He’d been in there on a charge of passing bad checks.

From his state of decomposition, the man is believed to have died in November.

Hancock Police and the Marquette State Police Forensic Lab are investigating to try to rule out the possibility of foul play.
