Ontonagon President Doing Double Duty
Ontonagon’s village president will have to do what several police chiefs in the U.P. have done recently — serve as manager for a while.
The village council had a special meeting last night.
They decided to have village president Scott Frazier also fill in as village manager temporarily.
He may be glad to have the additional work.
Frazier used to work at Smurfit-Stone until the mill closed on New Year’s Eve.
Last week, the council decided it wouldn’t renew Tom Cogswell’s contract as manager.
Cogswell’s contract was due to expire 2 days from now.
Them the council fired him effective immediately.
The council has 6 months to decide what to do about the job more permanently.
The members haven’t decided yet if they’ll hire a new village manager or restructure by splitting the manager’s hours and responsibility among several people.
