NMU\’s Stewart & Olver Grab POW Honors

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Two Northern Michigan University hockey players have been honored by the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) for their play in the sweep of the Lake Superior Lakers over the weekend. Mark Olver was named the Offensive Player of the Week while teammate Brian Stewart was selected as the Reebok Goaltender of the Week.

Olver, a junior, forward from Burnaby, B.C. had a hand in all five goals
scored against the Lakers. He scored both goals Friday night in the 2-1
overtime win. Olver then recorded three assists Saturday night in the
Wildcats 3-0 victory over the Lakers. Olver currently leads the team in
goals (19), assists (27) and points (46). He ended the regular season as
the CCHA scoring champ with 35 points in conference games. Olver tallied 17 goals and 18 assists in CCHA action.

Stewart, the senior, goaltender from Burnaby, B.C. only allowed one goal
Friday night as he made 27 saves. Saturday night he registered his fourth
shutout of the season with 33 saves. Currently for the season, Stewart is
15-9-7 with a 2.39 goal-against average and a .926 save-percentage.
