Crystal Falls Cuts Part-Time Police Jobs

The Crystal Falls City Council makes cuts to city services, and more are likely on the way.

During a special meeting last night, the City Council voted to eliminate the city’s 3 part-time police officer jobs.

They voted to either lease or sell the city golf course and to end financial contributions to several area programs.

Those are the summer recreation program, the Crystal Theatre, the Harbor House Museum and the Contemporary Center.

They also ended recycling services.

Layoffs or furlough days for city employees may be possible as well.

But the city needs to make more cuts to cover the deficit, which is more than $400,000.

The City Council will hold another special meeting about the budget on Monday.
