Michigan Tech students are celebrating their favorite weekend of the year as the annual Winter Carnival is underway.
Statue-building finished earlier in the week, so students and alumni are spending time walking around the campus and the entire Houghton-Hancock area to see the results of all the hard work.
Many of the athletic competitions began today, including snow volleyball, tug-of-war and human dogsledding.
A torchlight parade and fireworks are scheduled for tomorrow night, to go along with the Tech vs. Minnesota-Duluth hockey game.
