Stimulus Brings State Troopers Back to Work

Another piece of the federal stimulus bill is bringing troopers back to work for the Michigan State Police in a few weeks.

28 laid-off state troopers will be back soon.

The troopers were recalled based on seniority.

6 of the recalled officers are in the U.P.

2 will come back to the Wakefield Post.

1 each will be returning to the Newberry, Manistique, Calumet and Iron River Posts.

They’ll be back on the job on January 11th.

This recall brings the number of troopers in the state to 1,029.

This means out of the 100 who were laid off in June, 10 still haven’t been brought back yet.
