Gas Line Break in Kingsford

Emergency crews keep a natural gas line break in Kingsford from needing any evacuations.

Public Safety says it happened shortly before 11 this morning central time near the water treatment plant on West Breitung Avenue.

Workers had been removing a chain-link fence that had been cemented in place on the plant grounds.

Some of the cement wrapped itself around an underground gas line.

The gas pipe ruptured when the workers pulled out a post that the wrapped-up cement was attached to.

Police say they kept the area clear until DTE Energy could get there to shut off the gas.

Those energy workers were there for most of the afternoon to repair the damage.
