NMU Students Raise Money to Build Homes

Area college students interested in construction want to put their talents to use to help people in New Orleans.

But they need some help to get there.

NMU students involved in the Northern Michigan Constructors group on campus plan to spend their winter break building homes with Habitat for Humanity.

They’re raising $10,000 to make that happen.

The homes will be going to families that lost their homes in Hurricane Katrina 4 years ago.

The group’s worked on many projects in the area, including several Habitat homes in Marquette County.

They hope to use their skills in Louisiana for a week in December.

If you want to help the group with a monetary donation, or a gift card for things like gas, food or lodging, they’re taking those donations through the NMU Foundation.
