Lots of people in the U.P. have been waiting for one of the major satellite TV providers to make local channels available in the region.
Now, the wait is over.
This morning, DirecTV added local channels from the Marquette TV market, which includes us.
If you’re an existing customer, the local channels are automatically available for you at no additional cost.
They initially said they wouldn’t be adding CBS in the U.P., but the technical issues preventing that have been worked out, so DirecTV now has all the locals.
They also want to thank Congressman Bart Stupak for this.
DirecTV says they did this largely as a result of Stupak’s work, particularly a House bill he wrote earlier this year — the Satellite Consumers’ Right to Local Channels Act.
