Gladstone School Recall Effort Abandoned

The group trying to remove 2 people from the Gladstone school board gives up the ghost.

The committee to Improve Gladstone Schools was trying to recall Steve O’Driscoll and Gary Micheau.

They’ve withdrawn the recall petitions.

The group still had a few more weeks to collect signatures if they wanted to.

But they only had about a third of the nearly 1,000 signatures they needed.

The reason for the recall listed on the paperwork was that 2 and a half years ago, Micheau and O’Driscoll voted to pay the Michigan Association of School Boards about $5,000.

It was for a superintendent search.

Dr. Jay Kulbertis was one of the candidates the search turned up, and he ended up getting the job.
