Verso Paper’s mill in Quinnesec usually shuts down for 2 weeks a year to maintain the building and repair the machines.
But this year, it’ll be 5 weeks of shutdowns instead of 2.
The company is citing the poor market conditions.
The first 2 weeks will be in late April and early May, as usual.
The other 3 will be spread out over the summer and fall.
The Memphis-based company doesn’t know how many employees will be affected, but they will have only a skeleton crew working during the downtime.
