3 Communities Working on Sewer Issue

Neighboring communities meet up to work out progress with work on their sewer systems.

Negaunee’s and Ishpeming’s city councils got together late this afternoon to discuss their sewer transmission line agreement.

They’re trying to hammer out 15 main points they’ve raised that affect both cities.

They’re also forming a conceptual agreement.

The sanitary sewer line agreement should improve inter-governmental cooperation between Negaunee, Ishpeming and Ishpeming Township.

It should also financially benefit all 3 communities to the tune of $90,000 a year.

If the sewer transition line agreement is approved, a final form will be made and given back to the city councils for final approval.

Negaunee’s waste water treatment plant needs millions of dollars in improvements which the city is unable to afford.
