Esky Township Home Destroyed in Fire
A Delta County couple has to stand by and watch as a fire destroys their home.
It happened yesterday afternoon on 21st Road in Escanaba Township.
The couple came back from a shopping trip at about 12:30 to find a fire that started in their garage while they were gone.
After calling 911, they tried to put out the flames themselves with a garden hose.
But it spread to the house, and they couldn’t.
Township firefighters say the house is considered a total loss, but it was insured.
Crews from Bark River and Harris also helped out.
Firefighters had to stay at the scene until after 6pm.
No one was hurt.
