Newberry Residents Asked to Keep Water Running

A community in Luce County is having a persistent problem this winter with water and sewer mains freezing.

Newberry residents are being asked to keep the water running at all times in their homes.

The village has put a “let-it-run” water advisory in place, and it’ll last through the end of the month.

The Newberry Water and Light Board says while it does have to be a steady stream of water, it doesn’t have to be a large one.

They say as long as it’s about as wide as a pencil and it’s coming from a main faucet, that’s enough to keep the pipes warm.

They’re also going to adjust customers’ bills so that no one will have to pay for the extra water that’ll be used.
