Workshop on Getting Government Contracts

U.P. companies are getting some help on how to grow in spite of tough times.

One possibility — making the federal government a customer.

The Marquette Michigan Works! office hosted a basic seminar on how to sell to government agencies.

America’s federal government is the world’s largest buyer of goods and services, to the tune of more than $400 billion a year.

More than $90 billion of that goes to small businesses.

Traverse City Michigan Works! PTAC chief Todd Olson says a company that’s willing to put in some elbow grease can expect to land a contract eventually.

Most kinds of businesses can get a government contract as long as they have a history of stability and are trying to expand their existing business.

There’s a second seminar coming up in February building on the topics presented today.

Both workshops are free of charge.
