Portage Health Award for Improving Care

A hospital in the Copper Country wins national honors for improving the quality of care.

Portage Health in Hancock has won the 2008 Press Ganey Compass Award.

It’s given to facilities with the most improvement in patient satisfaction over the previous 2 years.

Portage Health is one of just 3 hospitals in the nation to get the honor this year.

The Press Ganey Company works with more than 7,000 health care facilities around the country to measure and improve quality of care.

They have databases that the hospitals can use to compare themselves with their peers.

Portage Health did that, using information from patient satisfaction surveys to become more responsive to patients’ needs.
