A Dickinson County woman is dead after her truck gets hit by a train.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Department says it happened a little before 9 Central time last night in Spalding Township.

55-year-old Myrtle Anderson of Vulcan was heading west on Old US-2 and 41 near 400 Road.

Police say she made a left turn across some railroad tracks without yielding to an oncoming train.

The train couldn’t stop in time to avoid hitting her truck.

Anderson died at the scene.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.

They’re waiting for the results of toxicology tests.

Hannahville tribal police, fire crews from Spalding and Harris Townships, the Hermansville Rescue Squad and state police from the Iron Mountain post all helped out at the scene.
