Sawyer Planes Protected by Better Hangars

SAWYER AIRPORT WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE BETTER CARE OF THE PLANES THAT FLY THERE…

NOW THAT A HUGE RENOVATION PROJECT IS ABOUT TO TAKE OFF.

Sawyer Airport will be able to take better care of the planes that fly there now that a huge renovation project is about to take off.

In the next few weeks, the hangars that the planes use are going to have a big project get started.

It’ll roll on through the winter and should cost upwards of $4 million.

Sawyer airport manager Keith Kaspari says it should wrap up by next June, and he’ll be holding a meeting tomorrow to plan out every step.

One of the hangars is getting a complete facelift, inside and out.

That one’s going to see new roofing and siding to better protect the planes inside.

The other 3 will be worked on exclusively from the inside, and they’ll also get new office space that Kaspari thinks will be attractive to potential future tenants.

Airport staff have hired a planning firm to develop a master plan.

That should help determine what kinds of future tenants Sawyer Airport should try to attract.
