STATE POLICE SAY THERE’S A SCAM MAKING THE ROUNDS IN IRON COUNTY THAT THEY WANT THE ENTIRE U–P TO KNOW ABOUT.
State police say there’s a scam making the rounds in Iron County that they want the entire U.P. to know about.
It involves a phone call from someone who claims to be a UPS delivery driver but isn’t.
Troopers from the Iron River post say nearby residents are getting calls like that.
The caller says UPS has to deliver a sweepstakes check for a large amount of money.
After stating the residents’ address and directions, the person asks whether or not the residents are going to be home.
Police have talked with the company’s own fraud department.
They both say UPS drivers never contact people by phone.
They’re asking everyone to not give out any information over the phone, especially if you weren’t the one to initiate the call.
