Huge Michigan Tech Grant for High School Program
Last year, Michigan Tech started a program giving high school students a taste of what high-tech careers are like.
Now they’re getting a huge boost to expand it.
The National Science Foundation has given Michigan Tech $1.6 million to expand its High School Enterprise program.
It’s growing from 3 high schools last year to 8 next year.
The goal is to motivate high schoolers to pursue careers in math-related and science-related fields because both the state and the country need highly-skilled employees.
The program was one of 25 grant recipients nationwide out of about 1,000 that asked the National Science Foundation for funding.
