Trial Date Set on Fatal Crash Charge
A Wisconsin man is going to trial shortly after New Year’s in Iron Mountain for a fatal crash.
51-year-old Joseph Valley of DePere, Wisconsin has a January 12th trial date.
He’s charged with operating while intoxicated, causing death.
In mid-February, Valley was heading east on US-2 in Waucedah Township when he lost control of his vehicle.
He crossed the center line and ran head-on into another vehicle.
53-year-old Michael Myers of Duluth was driving the other car, and he died.
Police say they noticed the scent of alcohol on Valley’s breath several hours after the crash.
They gave him a preliminary breathalyzer test at that point, and they say his blood alcohol level was .077%.
That’s just under the legal limit.
Valley is free on bond for now.
