Another New NMU Labor Contract

NMU reached a new contract with one of its faculty unions last week.

Now the school’s administration is close to a new deal with technical and office professional workers.

The employees have decided to ratify a new 3-year contract.

United Auto Workers Local 1950 represents them.

They voted for the new contract by a more than 2-to-1 margin.

The new contract includes a 2% raise each year.

Anyone earning less than $15 an hour will get additional incentives.

The union turned down a 3-year contract offer earlier this month because of salary and health care issues.

The members has been working without a contract since the end of June.

NMU’s Board of Trustees still has to ratify the deal.

The board members are expected to do that the next time they get together in December.
