Falling Tree Kills Man in Luce County
An elderly Schoolcraft County man is dead after a tree fell on him over the weekend.
State police from the Newberry post say it’s 83-year-old Wallace Kalinski of Manistique.
The accident happened sometime Saturday afternoon.
The call came in a little before 5pm from Lakefield Township, in Luce County.
A tree had fallen on Kalinski while he was cutting trees with a chainsaw near County Road 465.
When EMTs got there, they started giving him CPR and took him to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital.
He died there shortly after arriving.
