Keweenaw County’s Economic Development Committee will cease to exist if more people don’t want to serve on it.
The group can have as many as 9 members at a time, but it only has 5 right now.
The group’s chair, Janet Shea, says it can’t continue like that
She, and at least one member of the county board, have been asking around to see if people from the county want to join the EDC.
So far, no one has.
Its last meeting was cancelled because of a lack of a quorum — not enough members present for any decisions to be legally binding.
If there isn’t any more interest in the EDC by its next meeting on October 21st, county commissioners will consider dissolving the group.
