Youth Development Grant
A Marquette nonprofit group has just received a huge grant to expand its work with vulenrable young people.
It’s the Great Lakes Center for Youth Development.
The center has received a three–year, $905,000 grant.
The money will help the center expand a concept it that it already has in place in Alger and Marquette counties.
GLCYD vice president Amy Quinn says part of the work involves developing resource networks for improving living conditions and academic success for young people.
As more people become aware of resources for at–risk youth, from the Great Start Collaborative up through college-age programs, local nonprofits will have more demand for those services.
Quinn says the nonprofits will also receive free consulting services and free training to operate efficiently while dealing with the increased demand.
The grant funding comes from the Kellogg Foundation.
The money will allow the center to expand these youth programs to seven U.P. counties, and it eventually wants to spread the work to the entire U.P.
