Update: Woman pinned under vehicle identified

UPDATE — Tuesday August 23rd, 2016 5:10 p.m. EDT — One woman was taken to the hospital after being pinned under a vehicle at a local cemetery.

Marquette City Fire and Police personnel were dispatched to Park Cemetery in Marquette just after 12:30 on the report of the woman who was pinned under the front of a Chevrolet Equinox.

An eyewitness at the scene said one front tire was resting on her torso and the car was still in gear.
The witness put the vehicle in park and waited for emergency personnel to get the vehicle off her.

“I hear this lady hollering and screaming, ‘Oh God help me! Oh God help me!’ I said, oh my gosh somebody is mourning over a loved one here. As I came up over the hill, I see this car on top of her ready to crush her,” said Don Ohman, the witness who put the vehicle in park. “It took quite a few firemen and ambulance people to secure the car and try to lift the car and get her out underneath the car.”

The woman, identified as 72–year–old Rebecca Johnson of Marquette, was taken to UP Health System – Marquette by ambulance. Her injuries are said to be non–life threatening.
