MICHIGAMME — One woman is dead after a structure fire in Michigamme Sunday morning.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post say the fire at a residence on West Lake Street was reported by neighbors to Marquette County 911 at 6:00 a.m. Sunday. When Michigamme firefighters arrived on the scene, the second story of the house was engulfed in flames.

Police say 46-year-old Colette Heasley of Michigamme and formerly of Osceola, Wisconsin and Chicago City, Minnesota, was killed in the fire.

Chief Henry Jones of the Michigamme Fire Department requested assistance from the Michigan State Police Fire Marshal. Troopers and detectives spent most of the day at the scene collecting information and evidence to help determine the cause of the blaze. Police say no further information is available at this time.
