Woman Charged with Drugging 2-Year-Old Daughter

An eastern U.P. woman is accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter in December by giving her morphine.

28-year-old Kelly Ann Jones of Kinross is accused of open murder.

It has a possible sentence of up to life in prison if she’s convicted.

Jones is being held in the Chippewa County Jail in the Sault without bond.

She has a preliminary exam in court next Tuesday.

Her daughter, 2-year-old Ava Jones, died on December 8th from acute morphine poisoning.

She was in her mother’s care at the time.

Ann Jones is also being arraigned April 21st on another, unrelated charge.

It’s a charge of morphine delivery dating back to October.
