Woman Arraigned for Gift Certificate Fraud
A Manistique woman is arraigned after being accused of using fake gift certificates.
53-year-old Kandas Rasmussen is charged with larceny from a building, obtaining money by false pretenses and marijuana possession.
She has a preliminary exam set for February 9th.
Last Friday, public safety officers were told fake Manistique Merchants Association gift certificates were going around.
The legitimate ones are tan and have the group’s seal on them.
The bogus ones are green and red, and they don’t have the seal.
Police say about $1,200 of the fake certificates have been cashed in.
