Wolf killed in Delta Co. car accident

A wolf was killed by a vehicle in Delta County Monday evening.  The Escanaba Department of Public Safety responded to the accident scene on Hwy 2 & 41, near the city limits.  It happened at about 7:07 p.m.

According to a press release, when officers arrived they discovered that a westbound  2010 Jeep hit the wolf as it was crossing the road.

The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and the wolf was killed.  Rampart EMS transported the driver to OSF Hospital.  The black wolf, which weighed approximately 130 pound, was turned over to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division personnel.
