Some wolf hunting licenses still available

If you are in the market for a wolf hunting license, you may need to act fast before they are all gone.

All 1,200 licenses went on sale Saturday, and by the end of the day only 1,100 remained.  As of Tuesday morning, 38 were still up for grabs.

DNR Officials expect the remaining lot to sell out in the next day or two, but that does not necessarily mean they are gone for good.

“On Monday, all of the licenses were spoken for, however, sine that time, there have been some that have been voided or cancelled,” Deputy Public Information Officer with the DNR Debbie Munson Badini said.  “So there are some wolf hunting licenses available in the pool.”

“What you want to do is you can go to our website, our e-licensing site, and look there and see if you can buy one.  They’re available until October 31, or until they sell out.  You can call any of our DNR Offices, or you can go to any licensing agent like at a Gander Mountain or a Wal-Mart and they can also tell you if any are available.”

“So really it’s going to be hit or miss, there could be one voided, and then someone will buy it, there could be five in the pool, you never know.  So if you really do want to get one and you weren’t successful yet, keep trying.”

The U.P. wide wolf hunt is scheduled to begin on November 15 and run through December 31 or until all 43 wolves have been killed.

The deadline to purchase a license is October 31.
