Winter Storm Warning for U.P.

Upper Michigan is under a winter storm warning, expecting up to a foot of snow in some areas.

The heavy, wet snow has created hazardous driving conditions.

Slick roads and poor visibility have been blamed for many auto accidents across the U.P.

One of them closed Lake Antoine Road in Breitung Township today.

Michigan State Police from the Iron Mountain Post say a logging truck rolled over on its side due to the snowy conditions.

Logs spilled out onto the road, causing the road to be closed for three hours.

No one was injured.

The weather is expected to get worse before it gets better.

Almost every part of Upper Michigan can expect to see some substantial accumulation by Friday morning.

A number of events planned for the evening have been cancelled or postponed, so you might want to call ahead before you head out.

As for school tomorrow, it’s ‘wait and see’; no cancellations had been given to us by early Thursday evening.

We’ll post closings right here on our website as they become available to us.
