Winter storm covers the U.P.

Upper Michigan is continuing to recover from the latest snowfall that Mother Nature has brought to the area.

Residents have spent much of the day digging out of the wet, heavy snow that covered the Upper Peninsula. Some places in the central U.P. had over a foot of snow, with the majority of counties seeing about 6 to 8 inches.

Last year at this time, snow was melting at a record pace. And temperatures were at all time highs. The weather services say it is unlikely that last year’s warm March weather will repeat itself.

Use caution when driving in these snowy conditions. Many roads across the U.P. are still snow and ice covered, making for dangerous driving conditions.
