WASHINGTON, D.C. — There’s more talk this week regarding oil pipelines in the Great Lakes region.
The National Wildlife Federation announced that they sent a notice of intent to sue the federal Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration on Monday. The federation alleges that the PHMSA did not have the authority to allow the transport of oil through pipelines like Enbridge’s Line Five beneath the Straits of Mackinac.
They also assert that a number of federal laws were broken when the agency approved spill response plans for the Line Five pipeline. Click here to view the National Wildlife Federation’s notice of intent to sue.
