MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team is 3-2 through their first five games of the regular season. Both of NMU’s losses have been by a combined five points.
Wildcats head coach Troy Mattson said that in order for his team to get back on track, he needs a little bit more production from the players not in the starting lineup.
“We need more players to step up and play better,” said Mattson. “We’re not getting very much production out of our bench right now and we need to make sure that those people coming in are getting something done out there in a positive manner and that’s going to be our focus to try and get these people some confidence and get them rolling.”
“Hopefully playing at home is going to help us,” Mattson added. “We’ve had five games and four of them have been on the road against five very quality and tough opponents. There’s no shame in our position that were in right now. We just need to bounce back and start playing a little bit better.”
NMU hosts Findlay Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Berry Events Center.
