MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team held on for the 56-53 win against Minnesota-Duluth Tuesday night at the Berry Events Center. It was the Wildcats first non-conference win against a Division II program in three years.

NMU had three players finished in double figures, led by Terry Nash with 11 points. Guards Marcus Hall and Terry Nash each scored 11 points for the Wildcats, who shot 42.3% from the floor (22-52).

“As we progress as a team, this was one step int he right direction,” said Wildcats head coach Bill Sall after the game. “I thought we defended very well. It was a good sign from a young team, there were times in the second half when I looked up and realized we had four freshman in the game at the same time. It was a testament to them how hard they battled.”

NMU (2-2) returns to action Friday at the SMSU Classic where they will face Wayne State (Neb.) at 7 p.m.
