WI man Tasered in Marquette Co.
Marquette County Road 550 between Sugar Loaf Mountain and Wetmore Pond in Marquette Township was the location of an early morning arrest.
According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, a Deputy attempted to stop a 2004 Toyota Highlander for a traffic violation at about 12:05 a.m. The vehicle initially stopped, but then fled northbound. The pursuit ended at the entrance to Wetmore Pond where a felony stop was initiated.
Police say the 37 year old Wisconsin driver would not follow commands to shut the vehicle off and exit the vehicle. The vehicle was boxed in with patrol cars as it backed up and tried moving forward again. A Taser was deployed and the driver was removed from the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested for Fleeing and Eluding, Resisting and Obstructing, OWI, and Driving with a Revoked License. He is lodged in the Marquette County Jail and charges will be sought with the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office.
Marquette City Police assisted the Sheriff’s Office with the incident.
