WI man arraigned in Marquette Co.

The man who led police on a short car chase over the weekend in Marquette Township was arraigned in 96th District Court on Monday. 37-year-old Scott Michael Upson of Green Bay, is being charged with OWI, attempted resisting and obstructing a police officer, and driving with a suspended license.

According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy attempted to stop Upson who was driving a 2004 Toyota Highlander for a traffic violation on County Road 550 near Sugar Loaf Mountain on Saturday at about 12:05 a.m. Upson initially stopped his vehicle, but then fled northbound. The pursuit ended at the entrance to Wetmore Pond.

Police say Upson would not follow commands to turn off and exit the vehicle. The vehicle was boxed in with patrol cars as it backed up and tried moving forward again. Upson was then tased and removed from the vehicle.

Upson is currently lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on August 30 at 3 p.m.
