HANCOCK — The public is being asked for their input into recreational options for the city of Hancock.

What would you like to see for recreational opportunities in Hancock? That’s what city officials and the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region would like to know.

The 2015 Recreation User and Citizen Survey is now available and the results would be used in formulating the city’s five year plan.

WUPPDR Project Manager Steven Lasco said, “Michigan state statutes from 2008 request that communities have a recreation plan every five years. It’s a living document that prioritizes the community’s desires and gives them a better opportunity to compete for grants.”

Surveys are can be downloaded from the WUPPDR website www.wuppdr.org/surveys/ and can be turned in at their office or the Hancock City Center.

Lasco said, “We request that anyone that has an interest in recreation in the Hancock area, including trails-walking, hiking, snowmobile trails-in and out of the community, to complete the survey and give us your thoughts.”

Completed surveys must be turned in by October 23rd.
